| After thinking about it, Kalas and Lysha both should have been given a roll checking against this skill as well as they worship Larani who is the protector of Peoni. I'm reasonably certain that they would know the basics of that religion. Especially something so fundamental as the Turning and considering how obvious it would be with the changing of the robes, etc...
so, next two rolls are against the Communication skill Ritual - Larani first for Kalas and then for Lysha.
I'm giving them a +50 bonus to their skill ML to check against.
It is really besides the point, but just to be complete, and I think it would be funny if everyone but MHOG knew when and what Easter was.

| Ryssi answers directly to Jastrin, "Does your master pay you to eavesdrop on the custom as well as to serve his ale? Where are ye manners and do ye not recognize the trappings of the Harbringer of Spring? I travel, sir, and bring the news of the Greater Sapeleh to those who have no craft to read the seasons turning so they miss not the blessings of the Goddess. Did you not notice the shade of my garb? Tis the New Pale Green of Spring, nearly white. I go soon to turn to the fresh deep green that I will wear for the rest of the season. And are you, my good man, an innitiate of the Goddess to question me so?"
She stares directly at him until he drops his eyes. "Further, tis none of your business what business is mine and mine companions. I'm sure the Good Priest Hamis would be pleased to hear the desciption of him ye gave, is he not the head priest of Peoni here in Jedes? I thank you for news of the garrison but I bid you to serve us the ale and leave us to our musings"
She waits until the barman complies and leaves.
"Ondren, this is a letter from Rablar Oppias of the Bromeleon Abbey. He believed it to be the true prophecy from a believable source. He is high in the order, blessed beyond some others. He feels concerned, and so do I.
Also, Tis true what the barman said - soon in 13 days I will need to present myself at the temple for the rites."
"So, between then and now, let us find out what we might. I like not that we are unable to deliver this missive to the Constable and I am not sure of who we could trust to carry the message now.
I think ye need not fear for your belly, Ondren, it looks that ye have not missed many meals. There are many generous to those who serve the Goddess and I am willing to accept what she offers us as succor along the way. I'm sure the Goddess will provide as we go along as she has ever done. An, you may share between you most of any goods we find along the way for I need only what my body requires for health and cleanliness and to continue to serve those who need my goddess."
"Now, shall we pour over this prophecy and figure a direction to go since the barman has told us that the constable and his men have gone?"

| Harlin nods, and meekly speaks. "I could spare a hand for however long it takes to deliver the missive. Peoni comes first, after all."
Taking a sip of his ale, he adds, "Besides, no one is hiring around 'ere. Not like I have anything better to do."

| The main door to the tavern opens and in walks a tall man wearing a long sleeved ring hauberk covered by a Surcoat bearing the Constable's crest and a leather long cowl atop that. He carries a spear and a dagger hangs from his belt. Water rolls down his nasal half helm as he steps through the door and out of the rain. He pulls his helm off and looks around the room. "Jastrin, a pint of Haniale if you please." He walks over to the table you are gathered around. "I figured I would find you here. It's wet as the river Kald outside. News of armed strangers travels fast you see." He looks at each of you in turn and pauses to acknowledge some of you who he recognizes. "Gorrys, Kalas, Lysha." He nods as he greets you. "What brings you to Jedes? Market day isn't until tomorrow. Surely the runners the Circus Master sent didn't arrive with such speed as to bring you already. Who are your friends?" | |

| "Circus Master, you say?" said Ryssi curiously. "We have not met, good sir. I am Ebasethe Ryssi, devoted of Peoni." | |

"Surely you didn't miss the circus setting up on the commons when you came into town. They sent runners to every village in the Hundred this morning." Straken bows his head sharply as he introduces himself. "I am Straken of Ornelt, Ebasethe. I am Sergeant at Arms for Sir Shernath, Constable of Jedes, and I am at your service."

| Harlin greets the sergeant. "My name is Harlin, sir. I'm an ostler from the village. I met Ryssi a few months ago, and I was catching up with Kalas and her. I can see how a bunch of armed strangers could seem unusual, but we really didn't gather for any intent other than escaping the rain." | |

"It is good to meet you Harlin. I'm familiar with some of your companions. I've known of them for years. Their families are long of the Hundred and known to be good people. Come for the market day then are you?" Straken says.

"Work is growing scarce in Yalen, and we thought to come for market day, and see if we could secure some work. This little gathering is ... well, shall we say, it's a very pleasant surprise meeting of old friends. Care to join us for a drink while we wait for the storm to pass?"

"Well, I might be able to help you out some perhaps. With the garrison on patrol, and tomorrow seeing both Market Day and the Circus, it's going to be busier than usual. Now, I can't directly offer you any work, but the guard captain or the Constable might be looking for people to help keep eye on the crowd. It's nothing long term of course, but it would likely last at least a tenday or there abouts." Straken says. "If you'd like to come back to the Keep with me, I can talk to the right people and get you judged for work. We'd have to hurry though, any sort of business such as that would need to be decided before we get too long into the afternoon hours."

| "That sounds like a fair opportunity, sergeant. If you would, give my friends and I a few minutes to enjoy a warm piece of pie and a pint, and I'm sure we'd welcome a kind word to the Constable on our behalf." | |
